SCRIPTORIA corrects documents electronically, using the standard editorial tools included in most word processing packages. This means that:

• You can see exactly what work has been done.
• You do not have to type our changes into your text, you simply accept them with the touch of a button (full instructions are supplied on request).
• There are no paper copies, so delivery time is minimal.

• We provide two consultants, both holding PhDs (one in a relevant field and one in English and Linguistics).
• We correct grammatical and spelling errors and mistakes in punctuation and usage.
• We rewrite sentences to clarify sense.
• We check meaning. If the meaning of a sentence isn't clear, we highlight it and offer various alternatives. From these, you choose the one which best expresses your meaning.
• We check the internal consistency of the document (i.e., we ensure that the information given in the text agrees with that given in the Tables, Figures, and Appendices, and that the terms used are standardised, etc.).
• We check that the document's content is logical and complete.
• We check that your journal article conforms to the house style of the journal you are targeting. This service includes checking that references are formatted correctly.
• We check the tone of the document, to ensure that it is consistent throughout and appropriate for the audience.
• We check any minor changes you make in response to our suggestions at no extra charge.

SCRIPTORIA will edit documents in either British or American English. Where the client expresses no preference, British English will be used.
