Journal Articles and Research Dissemination.

We edit many journal articles for individual researchers and research institutes each year.

By outsourcing the editing of their journal articles to us, the publication departments of these centres free up precious resources without compromising quality.

Our rates are always competitive, and we provide bulk discounts to institutions which outsource more than 10 articles to us per year. Pictured here are a few example s of journals which have published articles that we've edited.

Indigenous Water-Harvesting Systems in West Asia and North Africa. 2004. T. Oweis, A. Hachum, A. Bruggeman, International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA). 179 pp.

Written by non-native English speakers, this book presents the results of research in nine countries. It aims to make clear to policy makers the environmental and social benefits of using traditional methods to collect and store water in dry areas.

SCRIPTORIA thoroughly edited this work, to ensure that it conveyed its message clearly to its intended audience. The book was then checked, laid out and printed by ICARDA.

Below-ground Interactions in Tropical Agroecosystems. 2004. M. van Noordwijk, G. Cadisch, C.K. Ong, CAB International. 464 pp.

This groundbreaking 464-page book synthesizes the findings of recent research on the hidden half of agroecosystems. Its 21 chapters include results and discussions relevant to a range of scales, including the plot, farm and landscape levels.

The client needed experienced editors with a strong understanding of the subject area. Most of the authors involved were non-native

English speakers, so we worked with them to clarify their chapters. We then edited and copy-edited the entire book. It received excellent reviews when published, and is rapidly becoming a standard text book in its field.

Growing Olives and Other Tree Species in Marginal Dry Environments. 2004. A. Tubeileh, A. Bruggeman, and F. Turkelboom, ICARDA. 106 pp.

One of several books SCRIPTORIA has edited for ICARDA, this work considers various ways of improving olive-growing in the dry areas.

As per our instructions, we thoroughly edited the text to ensure that its content could be easily understood. The entire work was then checked, laid out and printed by ICARDA.

The International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources and Decision 391 of the Andean Community of Nations: Peru, the Andean Region and the International Agricultural Research Centers. 2003. M. Ruiz Muller, CIP/SPDA. 42 pp.

This report was originally produced in Spanish. SCRIPTORIA worked with the International Potato Center (CIP) and the Sociedad Peruana de Derecho Ambiental to improve the translated text.

The report needed to clearly express some extremely complex policy issues. Our editors therefore worked hard to clarify its language while staying true to the original translation.

The WorldFish Center's 2003 Calendar. WorldFish Center/Department for International Development (DFID).

This calendar was designed to help raise awareness of the good work the WorldFish Center does.

Despite its serious message, the calendar was meant to be entertaining and appealing. Our editors carefully reviewed the entire calendar, to ensure that it would grab the attention of its non-specialist audience.

Date Palm Development in the GCC Countries of the Arabian Peninsula. 2005. ICARDA Arabian Peninsula Regional Program. 63 pp.

This book is just one example of the variety of conference proceedings we edit for institutions each year.

The papers for these proceedings were mostly written by non-native English speakers. We therefore thoroughly edited and copy-edited them and clarified any unclear issues with each paper's author. The entire book was then checked, laid out and printed by ICARDA.

Agriculture in Crisis: People, Commodities and Natural Resources in Indonesia 1996-2000. 2001. F. Ruf, F. Gerard. Curzon Press/Centre de Coopération Internationale en Recherche Agronomique pour le Développement (CIRAD).

This extremely important book details the effects that the recent economic crisis in Indonesia had on the country's agricultural sector.

SCRIPTORIA edited all twelve chapters, which had been written by non-native English speakers. The topics covered ranged from forest resources to oil palm and cocoa production.

Technical Reports. 2001-2005. ICARDA.

SCRIPTORIA edits a variety of reports for institutions each year. These cover a wide range of subjects, from irrigation and crop and livestock production, to the socioeconomics of nutrition and HIV/AIDS.

Our expert consultants work closely with the authors of the reports we receive, to ensure that their meanings are expressed clearly and accurately.

Dissemination Booklets. 2000-2002. World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF).

Edited by SCRIPTORIA, these 40-page booklets report the results of several years of socioeconomic and biophysical research undertaken by the World Agroforestry Centre.
